This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use:
- the Grace Pantry mobile application for iOS and Android
- the Grace Pantry support website available at www.gracepantry.app
- related support pages, help content, and communications

By using Grace Pantry, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

---

1. Overview

Grace Pantry is designed as a privacy-first household pantry management app.

A key principle of Grace Pantry is that pantry and household inventory data is intended to be stored locally on your device, not in user cloud accounts.

This means that, in general:
- no account is required for core app use
- your pantry data remains on your device
- we do not operate the app as a cloud-synced household database
- we do not collect your pantry inventory as a hosted account profile in the ordinary course of app use

However, some features may temporarily process selected images or limited technical data in order to provide core functionality, such as:
- receipt import
- product photo recognition
- support diagnostics when you contact us

---

2. Information We Collect

The information Grace Pantry may process falls into several categories.

A. Information stored locally on your device
This may include:
- pantry products you add
- categories
- quantities
- minimum stock thresholds
- barcode values
- household areas
- shopping list items
- recipe-related selections
- language preference
- app preferences
- plan state or premium-related local flags
- household settings such as guest counts
- help/tutorial completion state

This data is generally stored locally on your device.

B. Images you choose to provide
If you use certain optional features, you may choose to provide images, such as:
- a photo of a shopping receipt
- a photo of a product package
- an image selected from your gallery for receipt or product analysis

These images may be transmitted temporarily for processing only when necessary to provide the feature you requested.

C. Support and communication information
If you contact us, we may receive:
- your email address
- your name, if you provide it
- the contents of your message
- attachments, screenshots, or images you send
- technical details you choose to share for support purposes

D. Purchase and subscription information
If premium subscriptions are offered, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.

We may receive limited subscription-related information necessary to provide app functionality, such as:
- subscription status
- product identifier
- purchase state or entitlement state

We do not directly collect or store your payment card information.

E. Limited technical and device information
Depending on how the app and website are configured, we may receive limited technical information such as:
- app version
- device type
- operating system version
- language setting
- basic error or crash information
- support diagnostics if voluntarily shared or needed for troubleshooting

We aim to minimize this data and limit it to what is reasonably necessary.

---

3. How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

- to provide the app’s core functionality
- to store and display your pantry and shopping information locally
- to analyze images you choose to submit for product or receipt recognition
- to enable barcode, product photo, and receipt-related features
- to provide recipe-related suggestions based on local pantry information
- to respond to support requests
- to improve the reliability, safety, and usability of Grace Pantry
- to maintain subscription or premium feature access where applicable
- to comply with legal obligations
- to protect our users, systems, rights, and services

---

4. Local-First Storage

Grace Pantry is built around a local-first model.

In ordinary use:
- pantry data is stored locally on your device
- shopping list data is stored locally on your device
- household settings are stored locally on your device
- recipe matching is based on local pantry information

Because data is stored locally:
- deleting the app may delete your locally stored data
- changing devices may not transfer your data unless your device tools separately back it up
- if your device is lost, damaged, reset, or erased, your local pantry data may also be lost

We are not responsible for the loss of local data resulting from user actions, device issues, or platform behavior.

---

5. Image-Based Features

Grace Pantry may provide image-based assistance features such as:

- receipt import
- product photo recognition

Receipt Import
If you upload or capture a receipt image:
- the image may be processed to identify purchased items
- the processing is intended to extract product lines only
- users are expected to review and confirm the detected items before saving them

Product Photo Recognition
If you upload or capture a product image:
- the image may be processed to identify the main product shown
- users are expected to review and confirm the detected result before saving

Important
These features are assistive only.
They may not always be complete or error-free.

We may use service providers or API-based tools to process these images temporarily in order to provide the requested result.

We aim not to retain submitted images longer than necessary for processing, troubleshooting, security, or legal compliance.

---

6. Barcode Scanning

Barcode scanning is intended to work as a convenience feature.

Barcode values scanned through the app may be:
- processed locally
- compared against local lookup data
- used to prefill product information

Barcode data may be stored locally with the product record you choose to save.

---

7. Recipes and Suggestions

Grace Pantry may provide:
- recipe suggestions
- recipe matching
- shopping recommendations based on missing ingredients

This functionality is informational and assistive only.

Recipe-related suggestions are generated to help organize cooking decisions, but they are not a substitute for:
- dietary advice
- allergy advice
- medical advice
- nutritional advice

You remain responsible for reviewing ingredient suitability, allergens, household dietary needs, and cooking decisions.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information under our control.

However:
- no method of transmission over the internet

Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

For requests relating to information we may hold directly, contact us at info@gracepantry.app
